Finished innoculating some logs with shiitake spawn today. Put them out by the shed covered with burlap. Spawn came from Raintree; oak logs came from someone out in McMinnville.
Found out that the big complex frond fern in front is a “Dryopteris affinis ‘Cristata – The King – aka Golden Scaled Male Fern”. Trimmed most the ferns today by cutting off all the old fronds to try to clean them up some.
Yesterday… oh boy… planted a yellow euphorbia, red ranunculus, and
Planted lotsa veggies this weekend… discovered some new variegated hosta… I should probably take pictures of all this.
Still having tons of trouble with the slugs. I go out most nights with ammonia and probably get 25-50 of them. There’s all kinds– big, small, black, spotted, you name it. No signs of slowing, though they are leaving some places alone. They’re worst in the back area.
The wisteria in front (and, I think, the persimmon by the gate) appear to be budding.
