Forecast is for 105 this weekend. It’s the end of the world. I bought some shade cloth to cover the kiwis, and I think the rest are going to have to just deal with it. Good timing, too, since I’ll be out of town this weekend at the beach. I’m sure I’ll come back and find limp leaves plastered to the ground.
The orange cherry tomatoes are starting to ripen. Another note to self, those plants get huge. The thing’s gotta be 6-8′ high and 5-6′ wide even with a 4′ cage around it. Tons of really tasty fruit.
Picked one Peter Pan squash last night and harvested all the beets since they were starting to bolt. The squash vine looks like it’ll be prolific if it survives the heat and powdery mildew (a little at the bottom).
The mystery squash in front is shaping up to look like a kabocha. Still no viable fruit on it, but I’ve seen a couple of female flowers.
