Sometimes… OK, often… I get discouraged with my progress on our garden. You see something every day, and it’s hard to notice changes. Luckily, I stumbled upon some pictures that I took of the place when we moved in. “Then” was 2005.

One thing about my old pictures is that they were REALLY hard to take back then. You can see in the shade garden and lawn shots, for instance, that it just fades off into darkness in the back. I never did figure out how to take a picture of that area.
It took me the better part of a year and several quarts of blood and yard debris dumpsters to hack my way through the blackberry, wild clematis, holly, English ivy, and such to get to the back corner. That was a very happy day.
Anyway, it’s encouraging. Give me three more years, and I’ll probably wish I’d taken more pictures of it looking as terrible as it does now.
