Birthday Party!

I was just reading in some farmer lady’s blog that she didn’t get any eggs today because it was too hot.  Apparently, my harem likes it that way, cuz I scored three!  The last one came from Ethel, the Australorp, who I guess had a lot of trouble getting it out since it’s shaped more like… a… breakfast sausage? than an egg.  Still, she stayed well within the 33g-35g range to which beginning chickens are restricted.

We had a MONSTER BASH in our yard today, and it was quite excellent.  One attendant told me that my yard was like “AdventureLand”.  Excellent.

I made lemon poundcake with fresh whipped cream and strawberries from the yard.

The birthday boy declared it acceptable.

Then marched off the calories with the excellent musicians (Caroline and Maggie) leading a train around the yard.  (As I think about it, the cake came after, but this makes a better story.)

They even serenaded the chickens.  Maybe THAT explains the extra eggs?!  Nope.  Eggs came first.  I’m not going to lie about everything.

That weird sad kid showed up again.  Seems like he’s naked a lot.  His parents ought to be ashamed of themselves.
