*Yes, I know it’s not the year 2000. It’s always called that. I don’t even think it started in 2000. Portlanders, eh?
This weekend was the annual pig roast that my neighbors throw. It is always quite an event and has come to mean that we’re in the peak of summer. This year, I supplied buckets of herbs and onions for the pig and a piggy cake for the kids.
The cake was yellow cake with cream cheese frosting, and I dyed the frosting pink by straining a pint of raspberries from my raspberry patch into it. Mmm. It was kind of funny that a lot of people didn’t eat the cake because it was pig-shaped. I guess they figured it was from Wal-Mart or something.
The piggy in among the cookies, puddings, cheesecakes, and PIES!
Err… this, I cannot explain. Cool sign, tho.
Now, I know this looks pretty rude. Still, not being much of a meat guy, I gotta say that if you ARE going to eat meat, this is a good way to do it. Buckets of herbs and onions roast with the pig and turkey in a pit overnight and come out tender and de-friggin-licious.
Meanwhile, today I spent most my day pulling out and pruning. I hung up the garlic to dry, pulled one bed of onions, and…
Lucky for me, my super cool neighbor, Tedra, brough over some of the leftover pork, for which I bartered some onions and potatoes.
Oh, and I know I wasn’t going to talk about eggs anymore, but the girls came up with our first 3-egg day today. They’re still comically small, but they seem to be getting into the groove.

Ok, that’s pretty cool. I got my first 3-egg day today, too. Now we’re eggs-siblings. Seriously. It’s kinda like being blood brothers, only without all the gross blood and stuff.
