Garden all summer, pick stuff for a week.

Sorry, been busy with work and the remodel, but… got a nice looking basket of goodies from the yard this morning (eggs, too!):

Basket-o-plenty

Whatcha got there is Asian pears, my last Oregon curl-free peach, Van Buren grapes, casper eggplants, yellow zukes, (borghese, striped roman, and sungold) tomatoes, cali wonder pepper, and trombocino squash.

Still, doesn’t mean I’m going to quit whining.

I’ve had exactly two ripe tomatoes so far, and the rest are steadfastly green. But we’re having a big heat wave today, which gives me hope! And I won some purslane at the farmer’s market by guessing the weight of a humongous tomato. Any idea what the heck I should do with purslane?

Well, sounds like it’s too late to do what I did with it– which was to watch it get taller and taller until it flowered and then feed it to the chickens.

Actually, I see two problems you’re going to have with that.

My impression is that one just eats it in a salad.

May I politely request more blog entries? Even if disastrous things are happening in your garden, we want to know! We need the best of times AND the worst of times. How can we celebrate the triumph if we don’t see the nadir? At the very least, toss a recipe or something. My tomatoes are finally ripe, and I can only eat so much bruschetta.

    Sorry, sorry… yes, I’m bad.

OK, I’ll post something. The good news is that my bathroom is almost done!

The yard… well, I’ll save that for the post.
