I don’t know how many times I’ve thought how ridiculous it is to pay $20 or whatever for a 1 gallon baby of some plant that I want, but I’ve seen growing against buildings or, even worse, in my own yard. You can’t have too many blueberries, right? What if they were FREE?!
One of the folks on the PDX Backyard Farmers group asked a question that I paraphrase here:
“The tomatillos that I grew last year produced a bunch of seedlings this year. I don’t remember if they were hybrid or heirloom varieties. What am I going to get from these plants?”
Nearly anyone you ask will tell you: “Sow carrot seeds directly into the garden. You can’t transplant them.” Nearly anyone, but not everyone.
